NEW ADULT COORDINATOR

CAFE+

Transforming Informal Language Cafés into Validated Upskilling Pathways

About the project

CAFE+ turns informal language cafés — where newcomers and locals meet to practise a language — into validated upskilling pathways, so the skills people build there are recognised and lead somewhere.

As coordinator, ACCELERAS leads this European policy experiment in a consortium of seven partners, testing how informal learning can feed into recognised adult upskilling. The proposal ranked first of 112 in its call.

Objectives

  1. 01Turn language cafés into Skills Cafés — validated upskilling gateways in places adults already trust, at low cost and without new institutions
  2. 02Reach at least 35% higher engagement in skills activities than in comparable language café groups
  3. 03Help at least 40% of adults who complete 10 or more of 16 sessions earn a micro-credential
  4. 04Refer at least 25% of participants on to adult education, VET or public employment services within six months
