Green business models: creating value while reducing environmental impact

Explore business models that create value while reducing environmental impact.

Why this seminar matters

Customers, partners and funders increasingly ask how organisations create value without harming the environment. Green business models show that sustainability can be a source of advantage — from circular offers to resource-light services.

What you will learn

  • Recognise sustainable business-model patterns
  • Map the environmental impact of your offer
  • Develop a greener value proposition
  • Plan first steps for your organisation

The seminar programme

The seminar is built around four modules. Each one combines a short input with practical exercises, so you apply what you learn straight away.

Module 1

Recognise sustainable business-model patterns

Circular products, sharing and service models, local and regenerative value chains: we explore patterns with examples from small and medium-sized organisations.

Module 2

Map the environmental impact of your offer

With a simple life-cycle view you identify where your product or service uses the most resources and causes the most emissions — and where change is realistic.

Module 3

Develop a greener value proposition

Using a business model canvas with a sustainability layer, you design how your offer can create value for customers and reduce its environmental footprint at the same time.

Module 4

Plan first steps for your organisation

We prioritise measures by impact and effort, look at funding and support for green transformation, and turn ideas into a short action plan.

How we work

You work on your own organisation or a case of your choice, using canvases and short exercises. Peer feedback from participants of other sectors brings fresh ideas.

What you take home

  • A sustainable business model canvas for your offer
  • An impact map with your biggest levers
  • A prioritised list of first measures
  • Pointers to funding and support programmes

Who it is for

Entrepreneurs, SME staff and changemakers. No prior knowledge is needed — we start from your own questions and cases.

Practical details

  • Length: two to four days on site in Vienna, depending on the group
  • Group size: from eight participants
  • Language: German or English, set per group
  • Fee: €220–€400 per person, depending on length — we help you look for funding
  • Certificate of participation for every participant

Try this before the seminar

List the three resources your organisation spends the most money on. They are usually also where the biggest environmental gains are hiding.
